The institute conducts medical entrance exam for MBBS once a year. Candidates must read prospectus (available as a pdf file) before doing JIPMER 2018 registration. They must not leave any column blank. The institute does not entertain requests for form correction. Candidate friendly steps are taken to make registration easy and hassle-free; they are described here below.

How to apply for JIPMER MBBS 2018?

Candidates who wish to register to appear in the JIPMER 2018 entrance exam must apply online.

The first thing to do would be to read the prospectus completely.

Once all details of exam and form filling are understood, candidates can click on the link given above. Or candidates can visit the official website jipmer.edu.in and click on link available for MBBS entrance exam application form.

Expected flow of form filling: First candidates enter personal details (see below). Then they get an email from JIPMER containing User ID and Password. Next they have to go to official website to log in with User ID and Password received. After that candidates can enter qualifications (see fields below), correspondence details (see fields below), exam city preferences, and upload scanned documents (see list below). The final form is submitted by paying fee.

Candidates must note that paying fee is not enough to ensure submission of form. It is important to click “Submit” button.

It is suggested to download a copy of filled in form and print it also for future reference.

Application Fees

The application fee amount will be made known once JIPMER 2018 prospectus releases. Until then candidates can refer to last year’s fee to get an idea of what the fee could be this year.

The allowed modes of fee payment are expected to be net banking, credit card, and debit card.

JIPMER does not refund application fee.

Photograph and Signature to be uploaded in JIPMER 2018 Application Form regarding instructions

Candidates must take note of the specifications and instructions for photograph and signature to be uploaded in JIPMER 2018 application form. They are expected to be as mentioned below.

  • Passport size (30 mm x 45 mm)
  • Light background
  • Candidate should be holding a placard with name of candidate and date of taking photograph.

Scanned copy of photograph

  • Should be Named as “Candidate Photograph.jpg”.
  • Size should be between 20 KB and 200 KB.



  • Candidate must sign within an area of 80 mm x 35 mm.
  • Signature should be with black ball point pen.

  • Should be named as “Candidate Signature.jpg”.
  • Size should be between 20 KB and 200 KB.

The institute does not accept black and white or polaroid photographs. Also the institute rejects incomplete forms.

Upload Community / OPH Certificate In JIPMER 2018 Application Form If Applicable

Candidates who belong to UR and P-UR category should upload caste or community certificate. Candidates who belong to OPH or P-OPH category should upload disability certificate.

The certificate has to be scanned and saved as “Community Certificate” or “OPH Certificate” as applicable. Then it has to be saved as JPEG / JPG / PDF file. Its size should be below 800 KB.

Instructions for OBC NCL candidates

Those applying under OBC NCL should check that they do not belong to creamy layer section. It is advisable to see the central list of OBC available at NCBC website www.ncbc.nic.in. OBC certificate must be in the format mentioned in prospectus.

Instructions for SC / ST candidates

Format for SC certificate will be available in prospectus. It will have to be given at the time of counselling.

Who is considered a candidate of Puducherry?

Can Overseas Citizens of India also appear in JIPMER MBBS Entrance Exam 2018?

Yes, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) can also appear in JIPMER 2018 Entrance Exam for MBBS admission. There are six seats available for them. They will submit proof of registration as OCI under section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 along with application in order to be eligible for exam.

Eligibility criteria for JIPMER 2018

Candidate must have/be:

  • Indian national or OCI.
  • Completed seventeen years of age at time of admission or before 31st December 2018.
  • Completed 10+2. Those appearing in 10+2 exam in March / April 2018 are also eligible.
  • Studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology with English in last two years study.
  • Passed above mentioned subjects individually and obtained at least 50% taken together in PCB. For SC / ST / OBC / OPH candidates this requirement is lowered to 40%. For candidates belonging to OPH general category this requirement is 45%.

JIPMER 2018 Application Form Correction

There is no provision for form correction after form has been submitted.

Candidates should especially note that category, age, name, date of birth cannot be changed after submission. If there is any mistake in these fields, one has to apply afresh before last date.

Those apply afresh have to pay fees again.
